RE: 1/2 ton or 3/4 ton?

With a HD Payload option on your half ton there would be practically no difference between it and a 250/2500. Your trailer probably has close to 1,000 lb. tongue weight ant that's a large portion of your 1500 lb. payload but a MUCH smaller percentage of the HD's 3,050 lb. payload. Big advantage with a 250/2500 is the available engine options though. Good luck / skip

RE: what do you use to keep your meats cold ?

Pretty hard to imagine someone with an RV who didn't want to use the fridge :H It would be an awful lot of weight to haul around and not use.

RE: overnight parking at publix ok?

A parking lot is a parking lot. If that is your idea of fun then go for it (but you might be asked to leave). Good luck / Skip

RE: Light weight TT's, How durable are they?

Just ask yourself "are the newer cars less durable than the old 60 models?" The answer is a resounding "you got to be kidding". Light weight means lighter (and often stronger). In order to BE lighter they are built of more modern materials using the most up to date construction methods. What it does NOT mean is cheap or low quality. My Rockwood has 100% screwed and glued cabinetry and top brand furnishing and appliances. I've towed it over 40,000 trouble free miles (actually I have had ONE warranty concern with the trailer). Had there been NO warranty instead of the 2 years the repair would have cost me $40.00. Direct answer to your question is that a well built light weight is just as durable as a well built heavy weight and a poorly built one is nothing more than a poorly built trailer. Weight really has nothing to do with quality. Good luck / Skip

RE: Converter box and satellite

There is no reason to put a converter box on an already converted signal. The satellite box IS your converter.

RE: Hitch is frozen and he can't get the camper home!! :(

Using a trailer in that kind of extreme weather you really need a 4 season unit. Take a hair dryer and thaw out the hitch and you can get it home at least. Worry about emptying the tanks when it warms up and HOPE they didn't freeze solid enough to break anything. Good luck / skip

RE: Fifth wheel in windy conditions

I regularly travel with friends with a 5th wheel and they seem to handle winds of those speeds just as well as our travel trailer. Shouldn't be any problem at all but if you feel uncomfortable, pull over. Good luck / skip

RE: Bathroom odour

Leave the window shut so it draws air from other parts of the trailer and expels it through the fan. Be sure you do NOT turn on the fan until after you've flushed.

RE: New source of cheap fuel

Hummm...I've always LIKED the idea of killing two birds with one scalpel. :)

RE: EPDM Roof Coating

IF it isn't leaking I'd leave it alone. Manufacturers say EPDM requires only cleaning with mild soap.

RE: 1990 Pace Arrow Three Battery Wiring

This is for a two 12 volt battery set up but to add another just wire it the same way as the second battery. http://inlinethumb36.webshots.com/36195/2634587890044791067S425x425Q85.jpg

RE: Battery charging question

How long it will take to charge your batteries depends entirely on how big your battery charger is. If you're talking about charging from the unregulated 12 volt circuits on the generator, I'd plan on about a day since they put out only about 6 amps. You will need to purchase a stand alone battery charger or plug in the RV to the generator but a 1,000 watt genset won't run a very larger charger so plan on quite a while. Probably about 4 hours to bring them back to around 90% from 50% discharged.

RE: Talk about trailer trash....must see

We've done that many times when taking our sail boat to the coast. Never stopped in an RV park but stayed in many a Roadside Rest area and a campground with it. Just got to remember about that first step when you get up in the morning :)

RE: Coldest Temp you have camped in

We've spent a few days in low single digit overnight lows and around 10 daytime highs. The furnace kept us nice and warm but you'll feel every tiny draft if it's windy. We burned a 30 lb. tank of propane in two days under those conditions.

RE: Best Route from Illinois to Florida avoiding mountains..

Straight south to I-10 then turn left. No mountains to speak of on that route.

RE: Battery voltage - how low do you let it get?

12.2 volts (with no load) represents about 50% discharged. That's about as much as you should allow it to go. If you have good true deep cycle batteries they will stand up to that kind of use for a long time but if you have a Marine/RV deep cycle (modified starting battery) it won't take much of even that much discharge.

RE: crazy driving

Left lane is usually for passing and it does sound like he was passing just about every body else. Should he be going that fast? probably not but what was the speed limit? That or slower is usually the accepted speed he should be going.

RE: digital tv switch over

Good call on wife's part. The bottom line is that any TV hooked up to an antenna will need a converter. Make sure you get one with Analog Pass-Through" as there are thousands of LP transmitters across the country that will stay analog for the time being, if not forever. Not true. If the TV has a digital tuner no converter is required.

RE: Light Test

most sure way is to plug it into your truck. That way you know BOTH ends are working correctly.

RE: pump runs but no water?? any tips

Is it possible that you didn't close the by-pass valve you used when pumping in the antifreeze? With the valve trying to suck from a non existent bottle of antifreeze it'll act that way.
